Jimmy Carter: A Legacy of Faith, Peace, and Service

Remembering His Historic Visit to Terrassa

President Jimmy Carter has passed away at the age of 100, leaving an indelible legacy of peace, justice, and service. For the Unida Church of Terrassa, his presence holds a special place in our history. On July 3, 2010, Carter officially inaugurated our new temple in the Can Tusell neighborhood, a modern and sustainable building symbolizing the collective commitment of the evangelical community.

This year, as we celebrate the centenary of Protestant presence in Terrassa, we gratefully remember the moment when Carter shared with us a profound message of peace and hope. During the inauguration, quoting the second letter of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians, he said: “The things which are not seen are the most important, for they are eternal,” reminding us of the importance of values like peace, equality, humility, and love.

Accompanied by his wife Rosalynn and local authorities such as Vice President Josep-Lluís Carod-Rovira and Mayor Pere Navarro, Carter unveiled the commemorative plaque and received a Catalan Bible, a symbol of the rich Protestant tradition in Catalonia.

President Carter's life was a reflection of these values. From his presidency to his extensive humanitarian work, including the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, Carter demonstrated tireless commitment to justice and human dignity, guided by his faith.

In this significant year for our community, we join the global mourning and remember Jimmy Carter as a leader and brother in faith who inspired millions around the world. May his legacy continue to guide us in our mission to love God and serve others.
